In this virtual session, before the Court imposes the unconditional discharge sentence, the judge will ask the defendant if he has anything to say. Trump will then mount his virtual soapbox for his speech to the world. Reading from a prepared script, we can expect that he'll be blatantly confrontational and go into a tirade calling this a sham politically motivated persecution and denounce everyone, especially the judge and D.A., for framing him. We can expect that he'll punctuate his speech with his usual impromptu paranoidal rants and do so with the same zeal with which he continues to denounce the 2020 election as a steal by Joe Biden.
Trump will probably assume that the judge's hands will be tied insofar as his ability, at this stage, to impose contempt of court penalties upon him, though the judge might still legally find him in contempt of court if Trump crosses the line.
Of course, it will then be Judge Merchan's turn to speak.
Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
